Digital Footprint

Watch the video at home (it's on YouTube) about Digital Dossier (Footprint)
Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life?  Do you know 40 % of employers check social site such as Facebook before hiring?  What are your thoughts on this?  Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit?

  1. Wow that is creepy, how is that legal? isn't that invasion of privacy? One way to protect yourself is to use private browser that masks your Ip address. What this does is submit you as an anonymous user. Its kinda like pressing *67 on a phone before you call someone, except this they cant track you. However there are down sides to this, some website wont function properly because it blocks some information that goes on you dossier, like cookies and caches.

  2. That's really weird. I don't think that it should be like that. I think that is shouldn't matter what you do on the internet, and nobody should be worried about it.

  3. i had never even thought before that people watch our every move. leaving these tracks can have a huge impact on my life. i knew that most employers check facebook and that before hiring, but i didnt know the depth that people can search you. i think i would be impossible or near impossible to protect yourself from never being tracked.

  5. How is that legal? I feel like i have no privacy. I know that they background check you before you get a job and stuff, but I dident know they went that far. It would probaly be impossible to keep yourself from being tracked.

  7. I just feel like with all the new technology there is it is so hard to keep your privacy, i did not know that companies would go to those extremes.

  8. It just goes to show that there is no privacy anywhere and it should be considered a warning- watch what you say because it makes all the difference. This is probably where all those Netiquette rules would come in as well.

  9. I feel like most of you "where is my privacy?" . . .but it's legal. The only way to protect yourself is to be careful about the information and post or what you put on the web. I agree it's creepy.

  10. I just don't get how that could be right. It doesn't seem right to have privacy invaded like that. It just seems like you could be tracked so easily. I think there should be rules about this.

  15. I think that its a little creepy that workers are watching your every move online. Its an invasion of privacy. You shouldn't put as much information about you on the internet so that people can't creep on you.

  16. I also feel that is an invasion of privacy. People should only watch your every move when you are suspected of doing something wrong. I guess this just proves so much about the online world, people neede to really watch how much information they out about themselves on the internet.
