  4. The people all look poor, and it’s depressing. They have like all their food on the ground… gross! People are just like chilling out on the ground… Looks uncomfortable, but I guess that’s how it has to be because you can definitely tell something happened and now all these people have nothing, or it’s a nation in poverty.

  8. When I saw this photo it just made me think of people in Africa having a picnic with lots of fruit in the heat. Then, i also thought that it might be like what we'd call a farmer's market, where they are trading goods and food.

  13. I think it is a lady waiting to buy food from a market. I think that the city she is in is dirty and they don't have a lot of money, because the woman does not have shoes on, but they have colorful clothes. It looks like they brought all of the food from a big truck and people are having like a mini food market, to make a profit.

  17. I think that this is a woman in Africa or in a third world country. She seems like she lives in poverty. Maybe she couldn’t even afford to buy shoes because she isn’t wearing any. It appears that she is about to buy some food, like bananas or other fruit. I feel bad for the people in these countries because it is a struggle for them to even get food, clothes, or shelter to provide to their familes.

  18. When you look at a picture, especially with images like this, you immediately jump to conclusions and make predictions but there may be more to it then meets the eye. Looking at this, you think about what you see, which is a women at Africa at a fruit marker. But after using voicethread, I was able to see what other people saw and open to their interpretation.

  20. Interesting so many of you mentioned you thought it was a sad picture and you saw poverty. My church has a “sister” church in Tanzania, Africa. When we get visitors from Tanzania they are amazed at the modern conveniences such as nice cars, running water, a washing machine, supermarket, etc. But feel sorry for us because we seem “stressed out”. In Africa, Sunday services people will bring things to auction off for the offering. After church they hold an auction of things they have such as chickens, grain, and/or things they have made. The money collected goes to the church. Last year they felt sorry for a congregation in downtown Toledo and raised $400.00 from their meager offerings.
